5 - a break from the conventional photo (thanks to flakey Nokia phones) and a welcome break from from the run-of-mill instant noodles. Vietnamese style noodles aways score highly and these peppered beef noodles by Mama are no exception. They left me buzzing with endorphins. Dylski

0 - looked rather bland and sad from the packaging. Lived up to expectation. Actually exceeded expectations because they are more than bland. The concentrated tomato sachet had no impact on the flavour whatsoever. They are to flavour what anti-matter is to matter; anti-flavour. Even chilli oil could not mask the vile product’s blandness. The pits of instant noodles. Crosse and Blackwell and producer Symington’s Ltd hang your heads in shame, this is a sad day for instant noodles. dylski

4 - the only noodles I’ve encountered with conflicting instructions: a sticker describing a soup preparation contrasted against the original packaging demonstrating the noodles being drained. Followed years of experience and took the soup route and was rewarded with an excellent soup! dylski

4 - suprisingly tasty Tom Yam flavoured noodles. Not particularly inspiring on the sachet-front and the noodles aren’t anything to write home about but there was a decent hot and sour taste (not very hot though) and good lemon grass flavour too. A Poundland special - 3 for £1. dylski

2 - pretty tasty and sporting never-seen-before-on-instant-noodle-review nothing less than ‘straight’ rice noodles with a good firm texture. Taste-wise these were a slight improvement on Mama’s Pad Thai noodles; but considering Mama’s are similarly sized (possibly larger), with three sachets and less than a quarter of the cost, these have been marked down considerably. This one packs an interesting colour and flavour into a rather small portion of noodle soup (the soup dimension making these more filling than the similarly-sized Pad Thai version). The soup was vibrant red-pink (British Indian Restaurant Tandoori Chicken colour if that means anything to you) with a slightly sweet and sour flavour. Could have done with more. Dylski.
